If you think about technique - that needs time and patience, good eye and model.
That is easy I wish I am closer to explain you how to start.

yeah i know what you mean. i wish i had a model but the people i want to model for me im way too shy to ask.. akward.. and i dont think i really have the eye for detail

I know and details are not important, principal shape is first.
In your town I am sure there are groups for life painting, go there it is very cheap submission for model and you have your few hours with model and other artist.
I am now in Vancouver BC. here is one organization called "basic inquiry", You have to pay $10 to$12 to draw or paint there for 3 hours.

yeah im sure there is groups and such like that here but id rather just gather a bunch of "artistic" friends and make a group of my own so im not so uncomfortable and having to join some group of people i dont know.

I have inspiration from lot of things: stories, film, life or just some model I am drawing.
