Thank you for pointing it my way!

And speaking of amazing pieces.  I'm gonna be back in your gallery a little bit later this evening.  Right now, I'm doing that boring stuff...like going through my email and deleting stuff.  Oh, what fun.  I'm a guy, so why do I have 3 ads for breast enhancement? Did I click something to get me on somebody's plastic surgery mailing list?  And on another note: how are you?  Doing good, I hope.  Any further developments with your story idea?  The more I think about it, the more appealing it becomes.

The ad people must've got us mixed up. I just looked at my spam folder last night and I received hundreds of messages for testosterone injections and sex pills! Hahah. As well as saying that I qualify for like a million credit cards. And I'm well, how are you? I'm about 90% done with moving and unpacking and I'm ready to relax and enjoy my summer! Hopefully I can finish the Beatrice story, write another chapter of my other story, and get something started for my new idea! I've been thinking a lot on it and hopefully I can make something nice. I was also planning on starting a group of my own eventually--one specifically for chapter works and series and extended pieces.

Chipchinka In reply to CelestialMemories [2013-07-28 22:18:48 +0000 UTC]

It sounds like you have a bit on your plate; and moving is always a chore.  New digs are always exciting, though.

I'm actually working on the glimmering of an idea for a new piece.  I just posted one that seemed to have come out of nowhere, and the piece I might be starting today, is one that I've been toying around with since the beginning of this month.  I wrote a version of an opening, and hated it, and now I think I have the right angle for it, and so I'm going to attempt again.  It's such an odd experience, writing, but it's so worth it.  I'll also be reading more of your stuff, the Beatrice story as well as others!  A new group would be nice too...especially one dedicated to extended pieces.  The piece I just posted is the start of something bigger.  I tend to write in universes, and "The Widow's Bracelet" is the start of a new universe.  I plan to...well...I don't want to go spewing spoilers, but there's a nice story thread that could happen.  The stories themselves would be independent of each other, but they'd all have one thing in common.  I rather like that.  I wonder if that's just a sideways way of writing a novel.  Each chapter would be its own self-contained story.

CelestialMemories In reply to Chipchinka [2013-07-29 02:30:52 +0000 UTC]

It sure is! Especially since I moved in by myself (well my mother came down and is staying with me to help me finish up since I have a swollen knee) and it is amazing! I like my new place, my old place was awful! But now I'm a lot less stressed! I am about to read your new piece soon! And I'm excited to read another universe. I like how you take this way of writing, it's like an anthology: peeking through the windows of lives in the same world where people may or may not know each other. It's like having many different stories at once! I'm glad you like Beatrice! If I can take the time to sit down and give myself a few hours (maybe even tonight) I can pop out the rest of the chapters. I actually finished the story months ago, but after a flood all of the work was damaged and I lost it. I have a few other stories I plan on writing in the future as well!

The general ideas:

1. A Celtic werewolf joins a troupe of gypsies and they go on 'adventures' I guess you can say. All while working past a language barrier (I was trying to learn some languages to write this, but I was thinking it would be easier just to have no dialogue and have the characters breathe through action).

2. In a kingdom, the king was killed and a 'false' king is put in his place, but there are others in the castle who are interested in removing this 'false' king and taking over. I was inspired by Ivan the Terrible and another Russian film I can't seem to remember the name of.

Chipchinka In reply to CelestialMemories [2013-07-29 02:51:53 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad things are working out with the new digs.  I'm looking forward to moving as well, though now I have to work a pleasant surprise into the plan; I'd originally planned to go to Russia, as I got a rather pronounced (and welcome) come hither from someone special who has now decided that if I'm to come hither, it should be to Berlin.  I'm happy about that, not because I don't want to go to Russia, but I won't need to go through 9 layers of paperwork just to get permission to say that I'll be jumping on a plane.  The Russian paperwork fetish is quite odd.  Berlin, on the other hand?  Well, all that takes is jumping on a plane and going over there.  I can apply for a job when I'm there...and then go somewhere like Croatia for a day trip so that my work visa will kick in...and Croatia would be nice since there's a cute thang who lives there that I'd like to see again, even if nothing happens.  Cute Croations are reason enough to go anywhere, as are cute Russians, and cute anybody; though I'm convinced that there's a disproportionately large number of cute Czechs.  Funny how that works.

I love your story ideas and I'm looking forward to reading both.  I like both ideas, especially a warewolf and gypsies.  I met quite a large number of them when I lived in the Czech Republic, and one of them owns a bar in the town of Cesky Krumlov.  He looks like Shrek and he's "famous" for being really grumpy.  Toursts actually come to his bar so that he can snarl and get surly with them; and he caught on so he makes this show out of it.  I guess he figures it's nice to have a gimmick.  I don't have much experience with gypsies (they tend to call themselves Roma, if they're the brown skinned ones) and despite a single Roma character in one of my stories, I actually want to write more about them.  They can be fun and funny people.

I also like the story about the false king and the intrigues surrounding him.  I'd only do this with your permission, but if/when that story's written, I'd like to write a story that takes place in the modern day, with people visiting the castle of the "false king" or whatever, but have the story about life in that country today.  That doesn't have to happen, but I think it's one of those ideas that might be fun to play with.  It'll also remind me of Cesky Krumlov, again!  The castle there is HUGE and there's a window that's bricked over, where a psychotic prince was imprisoned after committing a rather scandalous set of murders: that's the castle where I spent Christmas with friends, drinking mulled wine and listening to Christmas carols in Czech.  The castle has a moat, but it's a dry moat with bears in it, bears had been naughty and was in lockdown.

CelestialMemories In reply to Chipchinka [2013-07-29 03:37:12 +0000 UTC]

I'm so jealous! I don't have much of an ability to go see cute Russians and Czechs! You should mail me some and I will keep them and treasure them forever. Haha.

Thanks! I've been trying to make the story as correct as possible, but unfortunately I can't find a lot of accurate, and almost educational or academic sources. I don't know much about either group except through sort of the mainstream and what few short stories I have read (and a documentary here and there) so it's sort of been on the back burner. It's an idea that I have a feeling I won't be able to complete. But sometimes it's fun to just fantasize.

And thanks! I'm taking a lot of influence over Russian Orthodoxy as well as their old governments. And then a few pagans and witches to spice things up. The kingdom will also be fueling a sort of Religious war, with one nation trying to convert the other to their religions. Another big project! But I have a lot of resources that I can look into. And I'm so jealous that you can see such beautiful things! That prince's history sounds really amazing and it'd be interesting to write a short piece of fiction with that. Poor naughty bears!
