The lines between the two are so blurred these days especially on DA. But, you're right I'm definitely no traditional photographer, not at the moment anyway. Having said that though I hate labels in art - I just do what I do.
I'm considering buying a film SLR at some point and reconecting with the basics.

So true.. It's a shame really, you can't tell (or usually you can) if the photo is manipulated or not.
I'm most interested in "real photography".
I've been planning to go over to film SLR for sooo long and I will for sure at some point.
Not sure if it means that I will be giving up digital or if I will continue with both.
I found some really old photos in an attic taken with some old 35mm SLR and ever since then I've admired
the "real" look in photos. For me, personally, photography is capturing the moment and getting the photo to look as it did when you shot it.
But you're right, the word Photography isn't restricted to one thing anymore.
Digital retouching has to be a big part of it now that the majority of photos out there are digital.
I just don't like when people over-do it. When retouching turns into manipulation.

No matter how good digital becomes or how many advancements are made in the technology there is a certain magic that comes with film that digital just can't match......and I'm saying that as someone who loves shooting digitally.
For me personally the two are almost completely different mediums and I'd wager there are very few photographers ( certainly here on deviant art ) who don't add in postwork far more than would be possible in a darkroom (keep an eye on light beams - dead give away).
I don't mind that at all and admittedly spend hours in photoshop and lightroom tinkering and tweaking....what really pisses me off though is when extremely talented (digital)photographers claim they haven't changed or added a thing digitally.
Honesty is the key for me. I don't care how a piece of art is created so long as the end result is art....but lying about the process and being defensive just serves to defeat the whole point and purpose of art.
Anyway, I digress it's just one of those things that really annoys me.
For me the ideal eventually will be to shoot both digitally and with film.
I've seen a few film SLR's going very cheap on Ebay and I must admit I'm very tempted.
