I used to subscribe to the kill-happy "BATHE IN THE BLOOD OF YOUR ENEMIES" trope that Kyoshi often gets reduced to, and it's still an amusing meme, but after watching and rewatching Kyoshi episodes for character reference, I kind of get why she considered Chin's incidental death a murder. She'd tried reasoning with him, she'd tried polite diplomacy, but he was an tyrannical autocrat who dealt in violence and the force of his army. And then he brought the war to her doorstep, threatened her home, and scorned her authority as the Avatar and tbh if I ever met Kim Jong Un, I'd crumble the earth beneath his feet and watch him fall to his death before trying to empathise with or forgive him. Some tyrants have made themselves impervious to justice or penance. Some tyrants need to be stopped.

Anyways re: all that, there are huge parallels between the Kyoshi-Chin and Korra-Kuvira stories --and some very crucial differences (that ultimately support Korra's empathy as a solution)-- but I've already typed waaaaay much here and it kind of turned weirdly personal.

tl;dr I like Kyoshi a lot
