Description
guilt guillotinethe head of emotion falls
and splashes hard against the ground
tar-belching fumes pour from the blood spatter
the sun is red and dim and it is night
flitting faeries swing ball and chain
scythes and smiles and glowing eyes
red and black, the pit and your bloodstained hands
crawling shadows furl and unfurl
and your snarl is as doom-filled as ever
death is your cloak
the shifting images in my mind
pull me into this montage of ideas
and yet again i cannot focus
but the words are marching out of me
like an army of cacophony
and a battalion of demons fly overhead
zipping past: black lines under the falling planets
the ground is covered in droves of slit-neck doves
some motionless, others twitching and oozing
and you stand mindless in the middle
tears pouring down your face,
icicles snapping away in the wasteland wind
they breathe, in the soil,
the earth undulates
as roots puncture the soles of your gnarled feet
and anchor you in place to witness the Reaping
the harshest shockwave tears the faces from your loved ones
and you are surrounded by indistinguishable skeletons
that crumple with the sound of bleached aeons
everywhere to run
if only your feet weren't intertwined with the leafless trees
mountains rise and fall and the errant undertakers rise up
stretching out their melting hands
guiding lances to your skull
in your final moments i take a two-pronged hook
and rend you collarbone to hip
reaching in and searching for your waifsoul
finding nothing, i step back
and you fall backwards, feet rooted in place
and as your shins splinter and snap helplessly
you cough out your final words
Elder Greithnar, Seer of the River, hear my scream
see the planets that loom over me
give me the strength, whatever the cost,
to rise above my loss and my lost
-
The sky opened up, and a chariot pulled by boiling shadows poured forth. On it stood a being of unobtainable knowledge. It raised a god in its left hand and a blade of unobtainable certainty in its right. If blue were white, those were its eyes. And it was crying an unobtainable sorrow. Waves of grief poured in like Tsunami after Tsunami, and the ground was washed away, leaving the core of the planet exposed. Words of unobtainable origin slaughtered the flying demons as if time stood still. Their wings fell like lacewing snowflakes into the roiling and boiling grief below.
The sky closed, and the silence began. Out of your lifeless mouth a dragonfly crawled, and as it perched on your lower lip, it began to beat its wings. It took off, and the being of unobtainable knowledge removed its crown.
The silence began, and it lingered, and it grew. The final tear fell from your face and your face alone.
