Description

It's bad for people to be "mean," and yet it's good for people to have "meaning?" We know these words are defined differently, but what if the true answer lies once upon a time, in a land long felt and yet long forgotten? At a point in time when these words were once connected, and those who found "meaning" were despised by those who couldn't?

"Give us the answers!!" The suffering fools would cry.

But those who found meaning knew that they could not. For meaning was something you must find in yourself. If it is only given to you, then you are only being controlled. Even giving them a hint could do nothing but guide them down the wrong path, and then they would never know the joy that is the true meaning. So they remained silent.

The pained population roared with anger! But the wise just walked away, a look of pity in their eyes.

"The Mean must be hated!" The ignorant masses declared, "They do not care about us! If they won't tell us what it is and how to find it then we will take all that they have!"

The pitied dark hearts came together with a sneer and plotted their plunder.

Not long after, the village of the Sages was burned to the ground and the people slaughtered.

"WHY!?! WHY MUST YOU SHOW SUCH CRUELTY!?!" yelled the brilliant victims.

"It was you that was cruel," spoke the malevolent damned "and we will be sure to make that clear for generations to come! You could have saved us!! But instead, you were selfish! We will make our meaning and give it to others freely"

The nearsighted astute then realized their fate, and the fate of all humanity, and could not help but look upon the hopeless villains with more pity one last time. The true meaning will never come for them. Now they will only suffer. And such a beautiful experience will be taken away from them and those like them for all time.

The victorious forlorn cheered their enemy's demise and made good on their promise. They took everything the tragic intellectuals had and for generations upon generations "being mean"  was associated with heartlessness and cruelty. And having "meaning" was associated with having more.

The moral of this story is what my art represents. And the premise is what I hope to inspire. Sometimes things aren't always what they seem. And we all need to question the meaning of "meaning."
