Description

This is Maik Genol, a character from the second book of the series I’m working on. I read from the writer K.M. Weiland that authors sometimes make the mistake of separating their most interesting characters/relationships, so I tried not to do that in my story. As a result, at least during the writing process, I felt like my book light up like a Christmas tree every time Maik and my main character appeared “on screen” together.

Something finally clicked for me. This approach: to color the planes in just two colors first (the ones that are facing the light, and the others that don’t), will help me to draw faces with no strong shadows, which has been my nemesis for a while. I started paying attention to photos, and I see this principle very often now, so yay!
