Boy, it has been a crazy week. I still am so lost for words and am still struggling to comprehend everything that's happening. To even complete and upload this piece, I'm actually terrified. It really is a big jump from a whole week of Disney digital paintings, to a dark kinda watercolour painting. Hopefully it's not too big though!
This girl was a little bit of an experiment; I love watercolour painting, and I love digital painting, so I wanted to kinda cross-over them both and see what I could come up with, and stylize my watercolour work a little. As you can see, those weird dripping lines have made a return!
Hoping you like this one a little more than I do, because boy am I nervous!

RENEE!! ♥♥♥
Umm well i apply a lot of water/paint in a certain area and 'direction' and while it's still wet in a giant patch, i kinda aim my breath and blow accordingly based on how far/extent iwant it!
So basically. i blow water
Sorry I don't have a more technical way, I'm sure the pros really have a specific way to do it, this is kinda a DIY home kit watercolour tecnique haha

Oh that's how you do it. I thought people always used a drinking straw to blow the paint into a direction and then you got those effects..
Now I want to do a watercolor drawing too, but got so little time.

So how've you been?

Well, as you can probalby guess (AGAIN), I'm struggling intensely with second year of university. It's actually so intense and ten times more time consuming than last year it's a little depressing. I just want to draw and draw, and I just end up finding myself either working, studying or coming home from a long day and collapsing into exhaustion.
THIS STINKSSS RENEEE THIS STINNKSSS I've finally mustered some time and holiday's are nearing so, I'll be getting a heap of work up and about soon!
HOW ABOUT YOURSELF!! You owe me a HUUUGE Catch-up of what's been going on!!

Catstudio7 In reply to kelogsloops [2015-03-29 18:05:22 +0000 UTC]
University is taking all your time, that's awful! It must be really depressing fro you, even more since you got holidays soon and you have to work in your free days, right?
That really stinks!! ;v; No time to draw..
Hahah, well I don't know if there is much to catch-up with, but I have been doing homework lately for my study, I have to make a poster about Art History and more projects have been coming up. Like coming up with a plan for a commercial/advertisement for shops, that means that we have to create posters and designs for it. And we have to hold presentations about it for the whole school. U__U
We lately had to create websites layouts and things like that and even how to link (Coding) each page to another button and stuff like that.
As for drawing, my school is a kind of art school so we have drawing as a subject during school. In class I have to draw realism, but I think I'm still not good at it.
It sucks, my realism art and I prefer to draw semi-realism (Half manga, Half realism.)
I try to draw during breaks in school or when I finished my homework, already brought a new sketchbook and pencils.
And I'm currently practicing digital art lately. I will upload something soon. ^^

Frankly, it sucks haha. I mean i enjoy uni, but all the time while I study i know what I'd rather be doing, yknow! Especially during those holidays. Ahhhhhhhgfhhhghhh
That's actually so cool though. Even though you;re knuckled down, sounds like such awesome and interesting projects! Best we do in my course is just study and look at cadavers for anatomy. I'm so jealous of youuuuu! I want to go to art schooooool~
YEAH! I think that's my tendency too. I prefer to draw semi-realism rather than pure realism, even though the purpose of it is to study and learn, it's just so much more natural and enjoyable to draw how I feel, hence why I rarely do studies ;/ AW AWESOME! At least you're keeping up with your art I bought a new sketchbook too haha, and it's hte kind with no binders, so you can't really remove pages. I'm going to fill it COMPLETELY with watercolour sketches nad paintings, whether they fail or whether they're good!
Can't wait to seee!!

Catstudio7 In reply to kelogsloops [2015-03-31 16:03:35 +0000 UTC]
It's good that you enjoy uni, me too as for art school, but you can't even draw during the holidays, that's awful!!
Looking at cadavers for anatomy?! O.O I'm glad I'm in art school than. Although, I won't be surprised if we have to draw a dead animal XD
Yes that's how I feel too. Pure realism...is to difficult for me. Hehe, yup, my sketchbook will have the same purpose as yours, I draw everything in it, whether they fail or whether they're good! XD
Oh and here is my digital drawing I was talking about. What do you think? It was my clothes study and how to draw it digital. I'm going to do more of this as well. :3

kelogsloops In reply to Catstudio7 [2015-04-05 17:48:09 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I'm still so envious of you being in art-school
Well, cadavers are pretty much the only way we can learn about muscle anatomy in real-life context, wihtout cutting up someone alive I spose aha. YEAH!! You should scan them all up one day as well and just make it like an online book. People would LOVE to see that!
PWOAHHH. Those jeans actually look so good! The way you've done the clothing AMGAWD RENEEE!!

Haha the splashes are no way perfect!
I still needa learn alot about controlling it so it's not too excessive and doens't take too much focus away Strangely, the only way to practice is to just keep blowing water..... weridly....
But thank you!

Like the intricate and slightly macabre look--I think the mix of media also adds an interesting dimension to your picture. Your digital artwork is very smooth so this is a nice break from that!
