The Indominus was the end result of Hoskin's, Mills', and Wu's pact to create the ultimate attack animal. It was the largest theropod ever cloned by INGEN and that size was only one facet of its capabilities. The countershade patterned skin was reinforced by the collagen fiber laced osteoderms of an anyklosaur, it had the thermal sensing heat pits from a constrictor, and an intelligence quotient matching the raptors. Combined with its dexterous grasping hands pulled from tree frogs, it could forge crude tools to overcome an obstacle its already formidable biological abilities couldn't. It was designed to sweep through small teams of infantry.

Raised in isolation after the second embryo failed to develop, the specimen was driven insane and was desperate to escape containment. Eventually it managed to fool the construction team into believing it vanished from its paddock only to burst out of the shadows of foliage to terrify one of the men into opening the gates. Before command could undo this horrifyingly egregious mistake, the dinosaur wedged a piece of lumber between the doors and would soon unleash a rampage that no amount of dollars could just cover up. At the peak of the disaster, it became clear the Indominus wasn't quite isolated as it began communicating with the park's pack of experimental raptors. Owen Grady theorized that with the paddocks so close in distance, the two parties would send out long distance calls to one another.

Claire Dearing's last minute plan was to release the elderly Tyrannosaurus to distract the hybrid long enough for her to hijack a construction crane and push the monstrous hybrid into the mosasaur lagoon. By a stroke of luck, she managed to pull it off and the already severely injured creature was dragged under by the three sea reptiles. Wu was immensely frustrated with this failure and in his haste couldn't package away the hybrid genome. Left only with his prototype template, he begrudgingly has been forced to start over in hiding.
