First Snowfall. Gouache, 21x14,8 cm. The passepartout is easily removable, no glue..
The ‘First Snowfall’ the first painting in a series of winter landscapes painted in 2021. That was the second year I had been locked down in China and isolated from the rest of the world. The winters here are rare for heavy snowy weather, so within this painted landscape, I expressed the homesickness for my hometown in Russia, surrounded by forests, villages, and fields. This place is a collective image from the memories of the places I saw during my daily travel on the local train to Moscow.
