Description This is what a sprint finish looks like.

The first, second, and third places were already settled, and now the fourth, fifth down to tenth place were contested.

The photographer has to be careful, as it is easy for the sprinters to not see where you are standing, especially if you are in front of the barricades meant to hold back the tifosi (fans).   The reason the two lead riders are at the back of their bikes with their arms straight is they were throwing the bike forward at the line to gain a small advantage by getting their front wheel farther forward.  It works in an even race, both arriving at the line at the same time.

I knew I would be safe behind the USCF official on the left side, in the blue shirt, so I made my stand there.  Not knowing where the riders would finish or how spread out they would be, I used a 35mm F2.0 Summicron, on my Leica M4, with Kodak Kodacolor 400 film.

Feel free to download, just give me photo credit.
