Shiera grew up in an orphanage in Mexico City and later in Rio de Janeiro. From a young age she had a passion for history and ancient cultures, as well as the magnificent structures that they built. She became an archaeologist and her work eventually caught the attention of a German soldier named Hans Garber. He informed her of the Zambesi Amulets and the supernatural power that they supposedly possessed.
Intrigued, Shiera set out for Zambesi to try and uncover the secret of the amulets. It was here that she first met Queen Mari of Zambesi and the two of them immediately fell in love. Shiera decided to stay in Zambesi with Mari and became her personal mechanic, building gadgets, weapons and vehicles to assist Mari against her enemies
