DOWNLOAD for a bigger versionHi There guys! this one is a old commission from around mid 2009 for a vampire set on a TCG... This time another chara linked to the vapire myths. The loved and hated Elizabeth Bathory, aka, the blood countess(maybe you remember her as Elizabeth Bartley on Castlevania: Bloodlines). I done a previous version of her a couple of years ago (the pic is on the gallery) a more, human version, so this one is a more vampire/demon version, hope you like it

Countess Elizabeth Báthory (Erzebet Bathory August 1560 – 21 August 1614) was a countess from the renowned Báthory family. She is possibly the most prolific female serial killer in history and is remembered as the "Blood Countess" and as the "Bloody Lady of Čachtice," after the castle near Trencsén (today Trenčín) in the Kingdom of Hungary, (today's Slovakia), where she spent most of her adult life.
After her husband's death, she and four collaborators were accused of torturing and killing hundreds of girls and young women, with one witness attributing to them over 600 victims, though the number for which she was convicted was 80. In 1610, she was imprisoned in the Csejte Castle, where she remained bricked in a set of rooms until her death four years later.
The case has led to legendary accounts of the Countess bathing in the blood of virgins in order to retain her youth and subsequently also to comparisons with Vlad III the Impaler of Wallachia, on whom the fictional Count Dracula is partly based, and to modern nicknames of the Blood Countess and Countess Dracula, also linked to the vampire folklore.

Funny, when I first clicked on your picture on the front page I thought, "Huh, strange I've never heard of this artist before", but the more I look through your gallery the more I realize I've seen and admired quite a few of your works in the past.

Bathing in blood was never proven and was most likely a lie told by the catholic church in a attempt to point the finger at pagan religion

The best interpretation of the Countess I have ever seen. If you want to, you should watch "STAY ALIVE", a movie about a game that kills whoever dies in it, the same way they die in the game. The game was apparently created and cursed by the on-living Spirit of The Countess. I think you might like it. ^ ^ But again, truly an amazing piece of art this is~

She has legs, but she's thigh deep in blood. She's taking a "blood bath".

I learned about Elizabeth during my Freshman Year of High School in History as a Halloween subject. I was so fascinated by her and Dracula, I've read so much about them. I love this. Her hand and wings are beautiful. Amazing Portrayal of Bathory. ♥

bloody...hell...I mean that's some blood bath and those eyes *shivers* - I would add that historicians nowadays suspect that Erzebeth Báthory was most probably victim of a conspiracy plotted together by other counts and the church who were after her money and stuff, it is said she was beautiful, smart, educated and knew alot about folk remedy (herbs...) which is what her rivals used like arguments when accusing her of witchcraft ... well who knows
