The woman has often been allied with what is wild. Throughout history she is linked to the moon and the power of the tide. Simultaneously woman and she-wolf, at once dreaming and awake, the female oracle is both the giver and the receiver of creative energy. Suspended on a sacred hill, her human hands accept the golden nectar of the heavens, representing the bounty and flux of nature. Her lupine eyes are numerous and all-seeing, keeping watch as she communes with mother earth.
This piece is part of a charity art auction for the amazing Catherine Hamlin Fistula Foundation , an organisation devoted to combating preventable childbirth related deaths and injuries in Ethiopia. This incredible charity has been savings lives, improving quality of life and restoring dignity to those who need it most for almost 60 years.
