Description
Summer has arrived. Now that I actually work 9-5 and not at night, I've been able to see more of God's beautiful sunsets grace the skies where I reside. They never get old, and they are always diffrent and ever changing. I love how God designed this planet. And go Rayleigh scattering! I love chemistry. Explaining why the sky is blue and sunsets tend to be reddish is great! Scattering of light is inversely proportional to the wavelength of the light raised to the fourth power. Higher energy light like blue light is scattered more, so we see the sky as blue. We don't see it as purple b/c our eyes are more sensative to the scattered blue light than the purple.

Ooh, cool. I remember learning a little about the sky color in middle school, but I've never heard of the Rayleigh scattering. Tis cool.
And sunsets really never get old.
