Description
Another illustration belonging to the lore of my abandoned RPG project set in the world of Borea. This is supposed to represent the Valorian Keep (standing above the river descending from the mountains down to the Acre-Mont Spine). It is the only known passage from the south to the north to the old ruins of the lost human realms (west of the Great Barrier montains). But noone can go the other way around : from north to south (except perhaps the lord of that stronghold himself). Those who attempt the journey south happen to get lost in a strange mist (in the whispering woods below the keep himself) never to be found again. In fact, a deadly curse was cast upon the keep (by its defenders) on the final days of its siege during the scarlet era, to forbid anyone to ever go south : especially the hordes of demons that were besieging the castle in the first place... Granted noone could even try to go south by the seas either : giant sea serpents, that were already infesting all the coast line back then (especially everything up north of Osthoriand bay), would attack at sight any ship big enough that would dare to try going around the natural frontier of Acre-Mont Spine, inbetween north and south...
