Vua Kin Timeri is a NPC in the D&D campaign I´m running. He is the lord of the city of Thoubran, on the border with Tembria. Vua Kin is a rather small man, but his charm, his bright blue eyes and his unfailingly good humor make him an attractive figure. The people of Thoubran love their lord because he offers them protection and prosperity in this otherwise desolate and lonely region. Not that anyone knows about it, but all this is shrouded in Thoubran Vua Kin's dark secret, hidden deep in the vaulted cellars of his keep.

More than twenty years ago, Thoubran was a collection of rickety wooden huts inhabited by lumberjacks, miners and a few farmers. The weather conditions and frequent raids by dark elves made life difficult for the people. Vua Kin, who was almost thirty years old at the time and whose wife was heavily pregnant, asked his brother Avarin for advice from a wizard and fell for his dark ideas.

In an extremely dangerous and secret summoning ceremony, Avarin summoned a powerful demon, whose true name he knew, and bound it to Lelonemia Timeri, the wife of Vua Kin, so that the demon had to remain in this plane until Avarin released it. For every human sacrifice, the demon granted a wish... Gold veins in the ore, fertile soil and rich harvests, plenty of game in the forests... none of this should be a problem any more.

Within two decades, Thoubran had grown from a puny village to a thriving town... and down below, deep in the bowels of the earth, in the cellars of Vua Kin's keep, Lelonemia was chained to the demon... She was tortured, tormented and raped, day after day, hour after hour. Death would have been a release for the gracefully beautiful woman, but the demon feasted on her suffering and was bound to her by Avarin's spell, so that she witnessed everything and would continue to do so for as long as Avarin's spell lasted. Only when the demon was freed would she also be free and finally be able to die.

This is the dark secret of Vua Kin and the price he and Lelonemia had to pay to ensure the survival and prosperity of Thoubran and his people.
