It's been a while since I last did a personal piece, so when the chance came around in the form of the Bobby Chiu Fairy Tale Challenge, I wanted to really take some time for it. And I'm glad I did!Sleeping Beauty is an incredibly inspiring tale I think, and I hope some of that made it into the painting.
Done over 8 or 9 days, all in Photoshop, and as usual without references. But boy, I'm glad I got a new computer. The final file is 800MB, with I don't know how many layers, certainly more than a hundred, at 6400*2700 px.

I saw this pic awhile back and came across it again today.
I should have said it earlier but this is a fantastic piece of work and was part of my inspiration for a fanfic I started writing last year.

Don't get me wrong, The artistry is amazing, and it is certainly reminiscent of the tale, but the first thing I thought when I saw this was; "I really hope those roses are thornless..."
