Hi,
I got to work this morning, fired up my PC, and found an overwhealming 70+ comments! The DD was a surprise, and I'm not sure I'm prepared to deal with the consequences Firstly this is a cut-and-paste note, rather than a personal one, because to write so many would take up my work day, apologies for that. Secondly, I really have two sets of replies to issue:
To the viewers who gave positive comments, favs, etc - the merit is firstly with the models, who are simply amazing, and secondly with a friend (a pro photographer) who set up the light and had the fan/wind thought. I just saw the girls do that and pressed a button.
To the viewers who gave negative comments relating to anything from superficiality to pornography - I personally think that it's one of the most sensual pictures I've ever seen that don't actually show any nudity, but I would be far from calling it porn. I'm sorry if it offended you in any way, but I don't see how. Superficial? Well yes, they are beautiful, but can beauty only be superficial? You decide.

I have achieved my goal!!... you now know exactly what I am aiming for. I like all the trendy 3d wps but they are just to much to look at. So I head in the more simple direction. Clean lines, limited colour, and a crip look.

i should also warn you that the tokina lens has bad flare problems, especially at the wide angle end.

one more thing.
another good alternative might be tokina's 28-70 2.6~2.8 ATX Pro-II.
this lens is optically equal to nikon's 28-70 2.8 lens except wide open. its wide open performance isn't bad though. it runs for $350. the minor quirk i have with this lens is that its AF is a little slower. the major quirk i have with this lens is not the lens itself, but tokina. tokina has bad QC (quality control) problems. i had to exchange it three times with B&H because of various things: excessive dust inside, scratches, messed up AF/MF switch.
however, if you can get your hands on a good sample, then the lens should be fine. you have the distinct advantage that you can thoroughly examine it in your store, a definite bonus for 3rd party lenses. the sigma's 70-200 2.8 doesn't have QC problems, not in my experience at least. good luck.

buy your nikon lenses imported from B&H. it'll be cheaper than your store's price, even with your employee discount probably. if you get all three lenses that i suggested, it'll run you $1550 from B&H, which is around your budget anyway.
all of the sigma lenses are crap except:
-all of their macro lenses
-50mm
-24mm
-70-200 2.8 (make sure you get the APO HSM blah blah blah version)

no problem octane. one thing though, the 24-85 2.8-4.0 is NOT a good lens. i thought i had a bad sample, but i just confirmed it with other nikon users. i suggested getting the 35-70 2.8 nikon, NOT THE 24-85!

if you ever make your way over there go to the town called El Escorial. I could try to put words to that city, but it would never come out right. It is my favorite place on earth. The streets are so old there is no cars... because they arent big enough. theres cafes everywhere, art and hand made crafts everywhere, and the monastary- on a side of a cliff, absolutely stunning.... and the inside is all gold made from the trips of christopher columbus. im not christian, but it was deff. a religious experience nonetheless
