How comes a character you originally created as a Sonic-FC is now a playable Character in a real Videogame?

Inspiration comes in many forms and sometimes from those inspirations becomes something of their own, in other words it may started out as a Sonic FC but it evolved and became its own, something that alot of people have been wanting from a Sonic game for ages, but we got it in the form of Freedom Planet. which I personally give high praise to everyone involved in this game as it is still a wonderful game to play to this very dayΒ

She's the owner of the characters in the game and SpacemanStrife is the dev. Lilac was a hedgehog back then when FP was originally going to be a Sonic fangame. However after a few years, Strife redesigned Lilac from a hedgehog to a dragon.
