I think he still does check but doesn't reply, maybe it's because he's busy or didn't want to get into speaking to people much due to social media affecting his mental health as anybody else. Trust me, I went through it in my experience. That's why I quit most of the social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. I couldn't get a life because those things are holding me back. Same with gaming, I retired playing online/console games. I'm almost 30 years old and still in progress of growing up maturely, I needed that to improve my life better.
