Did you used to be called "Nikumaru"? I don't know if you remember me, I've had several accounts since then, but I used to go under the name "zilchomarx". You seem to have disappeared for a while, and moved countries, but it looks like you're back. Hello again.

Actually I'm just going to add you to my watch. I looked through your gallery and liked what I saw. I like pirates also. Have you listened to the band Running Wild? They are a pirate themed metal band like Alestorm. I like the way you draw humans. It's hard to find well drawn humans that aren't anime on DA. And I have enjoyed the conversations with you. Something else hard to find on DA and pretty much the internet. I value conversations with thought and substance.

Oh, and speaking of drawing humans... you have a very unique and awesome style of drawing them as well. And other creatures, too. Your Quetz is really magnificent!

Thank you. I'm glad you like the way I draw humans and creatures. I definitely love my Quetz. Him and his human for Ophidius (my icon) are what I am enjoying the most right now. So fun to work with him. Thank you very much for the faves on him.

I had a suspicion they were the same, but didn't read quite enough to be sure They're both awesome!
And I just realized I totally forgot to watch you But it has been remedied. Hope to find the time soon to read more about your characters' background and dig more through your gallery!

Ah, good. I'm glad you suspected that. Though they look very different I tried to make some things about them similar so that people might be able to tell they are one and the same. His hybrid stage with the wings is the biggest indicator.
Thank you for the watch. I really appreciate that. Yes, please look through my gallery. I look forward to any comments you may have. I'm curious which of my characters you'll like. I actually wrote up some bios for them as well. I think I need to update a few since my new guys are always developing.

The hybrid form character sheet is what clued me in most, aye
You're welcome! Thank you too! And I've hardly had the chance to log in on dA lately... but hopefully I get settled in my schedule soon & I can take the time to browse your gallery properly I'll have to hunt down them bios for sure!

Aye! Running Wild was the first pirate metal band I found... I don't listen to them enough any more, though
And thank you I try to draw humans as realistically as I can. And I have to agree that there is an overload of anime-style on dA... and My Little Ponies you don't have to agree, but in the new series they hardly look like ponies and some talented people waste their talents doing fanart of that.
And I'm sorry... here you are saying you enjoy conversations with me and I take forever to reply... normally I don't, but it's been a tough time at work, leaving me with little energy when I get home at night

You're welcome.
I totally agree with you about the my little pony. I'm an 80's child and didn't like it back then. But at least back then they looked like horses. Again it's that bad anime influence. They have giant eyes and aren't shaped correctly so they look terrible. And what's with guys being into it? It's a girl's show. That's just weird. I used to watch one girl that drew beautiful Lion King art now she only draws ponys and it is such a waste of her talent. What a shame.
Hey it's ok. I hope work will go better for you though. I have been busy too and not had the motivation to make art. I need to get back into it. I loved how much I was coming up with like last month.

Nautical-Nieky In reply to Thagirion [2013-07-24 03:22:24 +0000 UTC]

I'm a guy, so I wasn't into the ponies of the 80s, either, and I guess the new ones are iconic (though misshapen and not very pony-looking) but the old ones were iconic, too... till quite recently I believe there were at least knock-offs of their style... I guess I just hate to see it replaced by the flash-animated vector blobs. And yeah, there's always odd ducks that like something not intended for them... I love children's cartoons, though I'm a grown-up, too... But the Brony thing is just ridiculous. It's an annoying fad, and the ponies are not deserving of the fandom. A dA friend of mine who digitally paints really realistic pictures of people mostly had to throw in some 'ponies' recently. At least she still does her regular thing, too... but it was such a contrast in style she could not pull off the ponies' style.
Still struggling with finding energy and time to be on dA at all... but at least I know I'll have some good conversation waiting now I should get some more free time soon, and maybe do some actual art again

That just means you're normal.  Oh man, that's annoying when some tries to mix styles and it just doesn't work.  I'm so sick of seeing this everywhere. It is a fad and in time it will die (hopefully never to come back) but I have a feeling it will be a long time before it does since it is so wide spread and popular.  In the 80's I loved the toys Fairy Tails which were also made by the same company. They were birds with long hairy tails you could comb. I LOVE birds but of course I usually go for the more obscure less popular stuff and it just didn't do very well. I have a lot of those still. I think they were way better than the ponies.  Being an adult and loving cartoons it something totally different though. Cartoons are made by adults anyway.  I love cartoons and a lot of animation.  I can't wait for Monsters University to come out on DVD. I do want it. I'm also glad you like our conversations. I enjoy conversations with substance. There's not enough of that here on Da. I wish I could turn off faves so that people would say something. My little fave before you comment stamp gets ignored.  And I understand about not having time. I hope you do find some time to be on but yeah work comes first. I was out of town this past week visiting a friend. So now I'm trying to catch up on my art and comments.

Maybe the next time the ponies come around, if they do, they'll be looking like ponies again, at least... Oh, those Fairy Tails look familiar. I think my sister may've had one of those And doing a google image search shows someone had the guts to make Fairy Tail fanart 'reimagining' them in a style similar to the new MLP It's a shame when things like that putter out into obscurity, though... almost as sad as when they come back as brightly colored tubers
I'm sure MU will be out on DVD soon. DVDs come out quicker and quicker. I saw a DVD in the store yesterday & I told my wife "Didn't we want to see this? I didn't know it had made it to the theater yet." and we'd seen the trailer just like a month before (though maybe we just saw the trailer late )
Right now I'm happy to just have faves... they're a sign that someone's seen my work at least. I've been away from dA for two years or so, and only recently got back, so I cannot blame people for ignoring me... and then there's this person who has nothing in their gallery, a flashing MLP avatar & only commented on a couple of my works with an animated SpongeBob icon But yeah, especially seeing nonsense comments on like youTube videos (and what I just described) and the likes, one would think people could take the time instead to make a comment on  artwork here on dA if they truly like it...

I decided to the the search. The first time google corrected me to "fairy tales".  I forced it to do just "Fairy tails" and an anime show came up only. Sigh.  So I typed in "fairy tails birds"  and finally found pics. But luckily didn't see the bad fan art. I have been meaning to do some fan art of theirs for my other account but eh, I have so much stuff to do I doubt it will happen.

Yes, I remember when it used to take a year for a movie to come out on VHS.  That was terrible and never made sense to me why. Some movies come out faster than others now. I'm glad it's not like it was.

I recently came back here too. I have been here since 2004 I think.  I left for a few years because I hated it. But came back and started to post in ernest in Sept of last year and now am having lots of fun. A fresh start.  Over all I think the place is better except for the way communication has gotten bad, but I see that everywhere and blame it on facebook and twitter, neither of which I proudly have.

I loved almost all of the 90's Godzilla movies. That's when I became a real fan, but then got out of it a few years later. The newer ones though cool effects just don't do it for me.

The first Godzilla movie I saw was Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, and I loved that. When I saw them, I loved the 60s and 70s movies, too, for their campiness and just to unwind. But I love the 90s & 2000s ones for their stories and less awkward battles Though I still have not seen Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II & Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla And from the 60s Godzilla vs. Hedorah, I'm ashamed to say...

I don't remember the first Godzilla I saw. I was a kid and they used to run them on TV. So probably one of the 60's ones.  The first Godzilla from 1954 was great. The unedited original Japanese is very serious.  I prefer them dark and serious that way and though I liked the 60's and 70's stuff I wish they hadn't gone that route.  If you ever get a chance to see the SpaceGodzilla one I recommend it. Awesome monster. One of my all time faves. I had a website dedicated to him back in the late 90's and early 2000's.  I often think I should redraw at least one of my old pics as I could do light years better now.  I also have all those 90's movies as VHS subbed bootlegs. When they were released as DVD's I think my boots are way better as they are translated more accurately.  I prefer subs because they are usually more accurate and you get to hear the real emotions and voices.

Nautical-Nieky In reply to Leeanix [2013-08-12 12:38:40 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I kinda hate Godzilla's Revenge where the kid gets kidnapped and dreamed up some bully as a giant monster or something for Godzilla to fight... that was too much for me. But they got back on the serious track with the 1985 Godzilla at least And yeah, I prefer subs over dubs, too... I had a VHS box set with some of the 60's/70's ones & they're pretty cringe-worthy. For some reason there's always the one old guy with a heavy Japanese accent while the rest is all American. And with those there would often be talking/hollering on-screen that wasn't dubbed and other lines that weren't said on-screen
When I can I'll see SpaceGodzilla. And I'd love to see you re-do him!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Leeanix In reply to Nautical-Nieky [2013-08-16 12:16:33 +0000 UTC]

It's amazing how much Americans change things in dubbing which bugs me. They have to add their agendas. In the 1984/5 they again added Raymond Burr and the whole scene with the Russian guy was changed. The guy was evil and set off the bomb. But Chris and I were shocked when we saw the subbed version with no Rayman Burr that the Russian guy tried to stop it and didn't push the button. WOW!
He's also a fan of ultra man which I can't stand but he told me another one that in the English version he has to recharge because pollution makes him weak. But in the real Japanese version it's because he gets his powers from the sun and he needs more sunlight. Totally different again. Sigh.
But yes it was nice that in the 80's one they got back to their roots. Just had an annoying kid respond to me saying it's a shame I'm not a Godzilla fan anymore. It's the fans that turned me off of it and statements like that make me want to draw stuff less.  What I do now is way better anyway.  But, I'm glad you'd like to see me draw SpaceGodzilla. I do think about it  a lot and it may happen one day.  My to do list on my other account is so huge.
