I don't know if you're back from your travels but, wherever you are, here's a powerfully sad song to get you through your day. It was written over two hundred years ago by Annag Chaimbeul whose fiancee drowned on the way to their wedding. Her body was found several months later on the beach near where his body was found.

Brown-Haired Alan

How sorrowful I am
Early in the morning rising

Chorus (after each verse):
Ò hì, I would go with thee
Hì ri bhò hò ru bhì
Hì ri bhò hò rinn o ho
Brown-haired Alan, ò hì, I would go with thee

If it is thy pillow the sand
If it is thy bed the seaweed

If it is the fish thy candles bright
If it is the seals thy watchmen

I would drink, though all would abhor it
Of thy heart's blood after thy drowning

Hey, thanks for the links my last remaining Deviantart comrade! I just watched them all with a little grin on my smug little face. (I reluctantly ask you if I can find you on the repulsive Facebook, I mostly post my art there these days) How long do you think she practiced?

Haha, cool; though I wish she'd dressed more flamboyantly to get that Hendrix vibe.

You seen this? Google street view turned into art [link]

I don't Facebook. I just don't want a company having my details. I'm not even sure if I'll make another effort with DA. Someone recently faved a photo of mine and less than a minute later I looked at their faves folder and they'd faved another 53 after mine. I was really surprised. Think I'm going to start deleting my pics again.

One song for you today

The Horse Song [link]

And a classic clip from Limmy's Show - you've no idea how much Dee Dee makes me laugh.

Hey. I've been too busy for Deviantart: politics and stuff (got a country to liberate); but I am aware we've not chatted for a long time.

Hope life is being good to you.

Hey, I was just thinking that whilst walking along home 'wonder how that old bugger Cuphook is doing' and I felt I had let deviantart sit and gather a thick layer of greasy dust high up on a unused shelf for quite some time, so my humbles apologies to you. Check this out, my brother sometimes makes props for these rabbits: [link]
What do you think of the D.B. single?
I quite like it, in a different way to the earlier stuff, and seeing him on that doll makes me want to bring him chicken broth, tweed slippers and a hug.

Recently I joined MUBI, pretty ok if you normally take ages picking what to watch [link]

I shall return in not too long!

Haha. I love their ears when they hear the drill. I'm sure I've seen those rabbits before somewhere.

I like the DB singles and the new album. I think he's done a brilliant job of explaining where he's at and could teach a lot of rockers about growing older. I'll need to give it more attention and decide exactly what I think it is though, but I've been busy.

I just get urges to watch certain movies. Today it was Giant [link] so I went into town and got the last copy in Fopp. There must be a word for that: finding the last one of what you want on the shelf.

I've got a political meeting to go to tonight, and though I can't be arsed I have a conscience that keeps telling me I must go catch the bus. Catch you later. [link]

and as i am here i can tell you a cool story. today i went in my car in a limited traffic area - so everyone drove real slow, when i saw a police car standing in the oncoming lane. standing, because there was a duck crossing the road! each driver (including me AND the cops) had a benevolent smile pasted on their faces (like a 50s american family movie) - i wish i had had my camera!

Yep, it wouldn't post so I kept trying, but I guess one could think of it as a very short frame animation of this duck crossing the road! x

I'm going on a trip to Hell this weekend: a get together of old friends, one of whom is dying. Most of them don't speak to each other anymore and I've been given a list of subjects which I've been told not to mention. I'm packing alcohol and weapons.

What you make of this? Not her best work but I'm kind of hooked and I don't know why. What you make of it? [link]

Will it turn out like a feel good comedy, horror movie or just a drag, I wonder.

As it turned out the weekend went okay. A big fire on the beach and some rock balancing does wonders for the soul. I woke up on the Sunday and decided to move city - I'm going back to Edinburgh.

DB at his best. He mentions working for Nicolas Roeg. You ever seen The Man Who Fell To Earth? I love the feel of that movie [link]

Hey. Hey. Hey. It was a really nice surprise to come home and find your package waiting. The salad seeds have been planted in a big black metal tub by the backdoor ready to make many fine sandwiches in a hurry. It's really nice seeing everything starting to grow now that the cold and the rain have gone away. I've applied for a gardening job out Deeside so my plans to return to Edinburgh will have been put on hold if I get it. It'll only be a year so it's no major hiccup.

Where on Earth did you find the postcard? Pictures of the emigrants always saddens me and when I think of the depopulation of the Gàidhealtachd I shake a fist at the cultural imperialism involved. During the Clearances the people of Skye used to do a dance called America as the emigration ships left. So strange to think of those left behind expressing in dance their feelings at never seeing their loved ones again. I spent an eventful Summer going round the highlands and islands with a few mates from the Central Belt who'd never been North of Perth. It was weeks of sex and drugs and Runrig. Seriously, everyone was listening to Runrig and we had them on in the car all the time [link] . I really should write the story sometime. It ends with a bar fight against fascists, collusion with an investigative journalist and a court case. Fun times.

Will listen to the CD when I get back from the flicks. Going to go see Moonrise Kingdom [link] and while I'm on about movies, if you like kitsch you have to go see Iron Sky [link] 'The battle for Earth is gonna get Nazi'.

How's things with you?

I think I've kissed that fish.

Lets dance all night [link] I was singing this song last week in the heatwave - 23° in March - and I actually did notice how happy the people in this city were, then I remembered what my great aunt would say when something really amazing happened. 'They're even smiling in Aberdeen'. Aberdeen is renowned for the fact that its inhabitants are rather dour - so winning the lottery and having Agyness Deyn fall into their lap as an asteroid narrowly avoids hitting Earth due to the intervention of an alien species might just make them crack a smile. Maybe like the rest of the country things are changing.

Haha. John Laurie.

I spent the day doing my friend's garden and now I'm tired. I like having my hands in the earth and making something that's alive with beauty. The place is full of bees, wasps, hoverflies and butterflies. Oh, and frogs, though nobody's seen them since they left the pond. End of the month I'm going to dig out another pond next to the annoying neighbours so in the Spring their nights will be filled with froggy love calls. The neighbours are the sort of Christians who'd find fault with God, if he existed, so I'm hoping the sound of animal lust will send them over the edge. I really should get a place with a garden of my own but the burbs depress me and I don't want to live in the countryside at the moment.

I'm not touched but I'm aching to be [link]
