Description Taken at the Berkshire Bird Paradise Sanctuary ([link] ).

We found the bird sanctuary completely by accident. We had driven up to Grafton Lakes State Park. It was packed, hot, humid and there were so many people that we left almost immediately.

We just drove around for a bit, and saw signs for the bird sanctuary on the side of the road, so we decided to take a look.

Peter Dubacher has been running the bird sanctuary, primarily by himself, since 1972. He takes in sick birds, or those that people don't want, and nurses them back to health. Talk about dedication!

He has a wide variety of birds in the sanctuary. There's emu's, cockatoo's, a toucan (which I'd never seen before, outside of pictures), and tons more.

I really respect what Peter is doing here. Feel free to take a look at the website, and if you're so inclined, maybe donate a couple of dollars through the Paypal donate button.

Since most of the big birds were in large cages, I had to deal with the wire mesh when taking pictures. To deal with that, I used the lowest f stop my lens could do (4.5 in this case), so that there was a very narrow depth of field. This effectively blurs out the wire mesh, when focused on the birds. The remaining blur adds more depth to the photo, in my opinion.

Any critique or suggestions are always welcome.

Excellent work!

Strangers passing in the street, by chances two separate causes meet, I am you and what I see is me.
